Why Albedo?

The definition of Albedo is sunlight reflected by a body or surface and that is the use case of it. Albedo is a supplement that increases your body's resistance to UV rays and helps repair your skin over time.

Polypodium leucotomos is a fern found in South America. Tribes would chew on this fern before fishing voyages on the amazon river and would return without getting burned.

Without getting too into the weeds, a sunburn is your body's inflammatory response to being overexposed by UV. The UV rays that hits your skin creates tiny unstable molecules called "Free Radicals". These fiery molecules can be thought of as hot coals on your skin causing oxidative stress, which is what causes your skin to age prematurely. Polypodium acts as a sponge, moving through the blood stream into your skin to soak up the hot coals or free radicals, before it can burn or damage your skin.

Let's face it, chemical sunscreens are questionable at best when it comes to protecting your skin from UV damage and preventing cancer. Chemical sunscreens are not recognized as Generally Safe and Effective (GRASE) due to the active ingredients being able to be found in the bloodstream days and weeks after application.

Polypodium is able to naturally raise your body's threshold of how much sun your skin can tolerate before it begins to burn. Which is why we created Albedo, a polypodium based supplement that can prolong your UV exposure, without compromising your health to questionable chemicals.
